Muswell Hill Runners
MUSWELL Hill Runners are celebrating this
week, after clinching two league titles.
On Tuesday night, the Runners won the Chingford League in the last race of the season on
the Eastway Circuit in Leyton.
The men's team needed to finish fourth or higher to win the
title. But in the end, they coasted to victory in the race, to clinch their first title
after 15 years of trying.
The team finished with three runners in the top ten - Johan
Lindgren (third), Harry Webb (5th) and Alex Mitchell (ninth) - to end 76 points ahead of
second-placed Trent Park.
The three other scoring Runners were Richard Browne (17th),
David Browne (18th) and Keith Turner (21st).
The final League table ended with Muswell Hill on 101pts.
Barnet were second on 91.
Two days earlier, the women's team took the Sunday
cross-country League at the final race at Trent Park.
Runners' Vanessa Parry added to the delight by capturing
the individual crown as well. Parry was the first Runner home on Sunday in fifth. Joanne
King (ninth), Pam Delamere (19th), Hilary Simpson (22nd) and Charlotte Rene (25th)
completed the five-to-score.
