I lecture in Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Archaeology and my particular
areas of interest are the Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Church and the
Development of Castles. I am also interested in the use of the
Internet for teaching Archaeology and I teach courses on Archaeology and
the Internet.
In addition to running day schools and occasional lectures on a freelance basis, I teach courses in Archaeology for the following universities:
- Department of Continuing Education, University of Oxford
- Faculty of Continuing Education, Birkbeck College, University of London,
- The Centre for Continuing Education, University of Essex
- London College of the University of Notre Dame.
I arrange and conduct archaeological study tours in England and on the Continent.
N.B. Archaeological study tours, together with introductory lectures in the archaeology of the relevant area, can be provided for visiting foreign students.
Additional archaeologists, specialising in other periods, can be arranged as lecturers and guides for these trips.I have directed archaeological training excavations in England and in France, in conjunction with the Museum of London, Birkbeck College and the University of Manchester.
I am currently co-director of the Birkbeck College training excavation, an annual London-based training excavation for degree, post-graduate and certificate and diploma students.
