W. Martyn Goes Metric
The Broadway's traditional tea and coffee specialist W. Martyn, founded in 1897, has finally said goodbye to pounds and ounces and ushered in a new era of grams and kilos.
William Martyn (pictured), the present owner and great grandson of the original W. Martyn, said: "Customers have been ordering in pounds and ounces for donkey's years and they aren't very happy now everything has to be converted."
The Famous store provides tea and coffee for dozens of local cafes and restaurants - and even has orders from customers as far afield as New York and Japan.
