The Strange Planet

I was in my spaceship, ready to explore the universe. As the spaceship left Earth, I looked out the window. Everything was zooming by. I glanced at the speed gauge. "Oh, no!" I cried. "We're going too fast!" I watched in horror as we flew right out of the universe. Everything went black.

When I woke, I was surrounded by pieces of spaceship. I looked around. I was on a blue planet. A huge rock was behind me. As I stood up, I felt dizzy so I leaned on the rock. Suddenly a door opened in the rock and I fell through. "Ahhhh!" I screamed as I slid down a slimy tunnel right onto a cliff's edge. Fortunately, I was able to grab a rock before I slid into the gorge. I pulled myself up and stared right into the eyes of an ogre! "Uh, excuse me", I stammered. The ogre smiled meanly and said, "George, look what we have here." Another ogre came over and replied, "I guess putting all these traps around finally paid off." "Yup," said the first ogre, who was wearing a dress. "We'll have fresh meat for dinner. If you start the fire, I'll call the neighbors for dinner."

So while George tried to start a fire, Jill, the other ogre, went to the edge of the cliff and screamed, "We've got meat! Come over for dinner. A fresh young human served!" Boy was I scared! I looked down the cliff, trying to find some means of escaping. Yes! A rope went right down the cliff. Oh, no! Just my luck. A three headed monster was running around down there. Well, I could run fast. I started to half climb, half slide down the rope. I jumped to the ground and started to run. I couldn't hear the monster, but I could smell him. Eww!

I found a dead end and a door. I pushed on the door. The monster opened his mouth. The door swung open and I stumbled inside, shutting the door behind me.

What a weird place this planet was! I was in a forest. I wandered through until I came to a tree that had a sign that read "Information". Well, good. I needed information. I wanted to know exactly where I was and if I was still alive. So I knocked. A bluejay opened the door and said, "What do you want? Do you have an appointment?" "Um, I want information and no, I..." That was as far as I got. The bird shouted. "Well you can sit on the log and wait. We're very busy."

I sat on the log and looked at magazines. There was a special exhibit opening at the local museum. Bird seed was at half price, Bye Bye Birdie was in the theaters, and there had been a robbery. Someone had stolen a silver bird roost from a local pet shop. And a soda called Bright Bird was in trees everywhere. Nothing particularly interesting. A well dressed pigeon that wore a badge that said Birds are Nice sat down next to me. I handed him the magazine about the museum and said, "You might be interested in this." Just then, the bird from the tree called me. "Human!"

I walked over. "Yes?" I asked. "You have an appointment with Dr. Greeneye. Over in those bushes." I walked over to the bushes. "Sit down", said Dr. Greeneye, who was an eagle with a green circle around his right eye. I sat. "Please state your questions." he said. "Well, for starters, where exactly am I?" I began. "You are in Universe 2", said the doctor. "Okay", I said. "Am I dead?" "You are certainly not", said Dr. Greeneye. "Anything else?" "Can you tell me how to get back to my own universe?" I asked. "I have no idea. is that all?" "Yes that's all", I said.

I left the information tree and walked into the forest toward a mountain I could see in the distance. When I finally reached it, a tornado had blown up. I ran for cover, but instead I swirled into the tornado! "Aaahhhh!" I yelled. I spotted a fairy and called "Help!" She flew over, took my hand. We flew out of the tornado. As we flew along I explained my situation. "Well, I can only drop you off on the moon of your home planet, because I can't go to your planet." "Thanks for your help!" I said.

After the fairy dropped me off on the moon, I suddenly remembered my two way radio strapped to my belt. As I unhooked it, my hand slipped and the radio fell on a rock and shattered. "Man, that was my only way home", I cried. As I sat down, I heard a roar behind me. I turned and saw a twelve foot tall abominable snowman. Now what would I do?
