Explore 26 miles of glorious coastline
The
Isle of Thanet has some 26 miles of coastline with many coves
and safe, sandy beaches. From May to September the main beaches
are cleaned regularly and water quality monitored. During the
season, dog bans are observed on the most popular beaches, and
lifeguards are on duty. Many of the bays offer a wide range of
supporting facilities. |

Minnis Bay BLUE FLAG AWARD |

Pegwell Bay |
The Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve and picnic site comprises 70 acres of coastal grassland with extensive views over the River Stour estuary, Pegwell Bay and the chalk cliffs of Thanet. It's an area of particular interest for the bird watching public. Many native and migratory birds, flowers, butterflies and mammals are to be seen. There is a bird hide with access for visitors with disabilities. The replica Viking Ship 'Hugin' can be viewed at the cliff top, situated by a separate picnic area, and a little closer to Ramsgate along the A256. Pegwell Bay |
